32 Dead in Virginia

As a campus student in New Hampshire I am mortified by the events that happened earlier today.
Find a blog about the story here. I've been complaining about Don Imus and the social issues regarding that story for the past week, now does it matter? 32 dead from the confused mind of a gunman. Does Don Imus's job mean anything to me now? Did the days of non-stop coverage over that story do justice to "real" news? This is a sad time for our nation. I am deeplysaddened without being directly affected. This is the worst unnatural disaster since 9-11. Social injustice in this country seems a small price when you hear about the horrendous events of today or even a day of war in Iraq. Even with the massacre that has happened today, we should keep the Iraq war in our minds. Our soldiers die daily, lets not forget them for a second. Find daily news about Iraq here.

Free Speech Petition
Don Imus has been fired from both radio and television. We at intimination.blogspot.com wish to change it. Take a stance for free speech and educated adults being able to choose what they listen to. Don't fall in to the cowardly advertisers version of America. Create your own version of America and stand up for the first amendment to the constitution. Certainly we do not condone nor agree with what Imus said, but the fact is he was quoting a movie, making a bad joke, and being a "shock jock." The fact is he has raised millions of dollars for charity and although he is responsible for what he says on the air, his listeners are adults that can make their own choices about what they believe and what they listen to. America does not need a scapegoat for the racial tension that exists in the world today. We can start a dialogue about race in America without ousting radio hosts. Lets start a petition targeted at NBC and CBS and their respective parent companies and advertisers. This petition is for the continuation of FREE SPEECH! Continue the dialogue by posting comments at http://intimination.blogspot.com

Don Imus in the Morning, Free Speech, and Civil Liberty
If the glove don’t fit you must acquit. Don Imus can go on the air slurring every race, creed, and culture for all I care, he has the right to do so. Free Speech! What is wrong with our society when they chastise someone for utilizing their FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS as amended by the United States Congress? Do we live in the 1950s running around accusing people of communism in a massive witch hunt? The FCC (not that I agree with censorship or anything) will censor things broadcasted on open airwaves if they are not seen fit to be heard by the American public. By the way, we live in such a war and hate filled world that I think adults who listen to Imus can choose what they listen to without being told what to do by the government. Imus should have been fined just like any other radio show host who let the F-Word slip out on the air. We’re trusting Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to tell us what’s right and wrong? Seriously, these two leaders are known for controversy. Are major advertisers so scared of offending a market sector that they can’t take a stance to back free speech? Can NBC please get their heads out of the hole they’re all hiding in and show the world that they still have a backbone. By no means am I against civil rights, I think what Imus said was wrong and stupid, but I believe he can go on the air and trash anyone he wants to without being penalized. Does anyone remember Howard Stern? Tell me he wasn’t demeaning to women and everyone where he felt he should act like an ass. Even as I write this I am trying to watch what I say for fear of being hunted down and burned at a stake. Maybe Imus trashed the Today Show one time too many.
Maybe Rush Limbaugh and his evil band of stooges should just step off and go abuse some pain killers. Alright, I’m overly worked up now, its time to go relax with Steven Colbert and make fun of Anderson Cooper.
